What is Sheet Metal Fabrication

Sheet metal fabrication is a comprehensive cold working process for thin metal sheets (usually under 6mm), including shearing, punching, bending, welding, riveting, mold forming and surface treatment. Its distinctive feature is the consistent thickness of the same part. So sheet metal working can manufacture a variety of metal parts made of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper and brass.

Sheet Metal Fabrication FAQS

1.Q: What Is Sheet Metal Fabrication Processes??

+
A: Sheet metal fabrication processes are those which alter a sheet’s original shape to produce a drawn part of desired thickness.

2.Q: How do you solve sheet metal forming issues?

+

A: Wrinkles can usually be solved by stretching or pulling the material, and for more complex 3-D shapes, stretch beads may be needed in addition to pads/adhesives to maximize the stretching of the material and prevent it from wrinkling.

3.Q: What materials should I use for my project?

+
A: Different materials are used in different industries. If you have not selected a material for your application, we can provide assistance and guidance. Usually production samples are provided for confirmation, but final customer approval is required before mass production.

4.Q: Do you offer extended molding services such as assembly, packaging or decorating?

+
A: We can provide some standard packaging services. If you need to provide customized packaging, decoration, or assembly services, please contact us.

5.Q: How long does it take to make sheet metal parts?

+
A: Typically 1-3 days for a single part, depending on the number and complexity of the sheet metal parts.

6.Q: Is sheet metal molding costly?

+
A:Sheet metal fabrication is a cost-effective manufacturing option, but there are costs that can raise or lower the price of a project. A design that calls for complex geometric or intricate shapes may be achieved but may require multiple processes. The type of sheet metal chosen can also influence the price.
